“Wrangle the Wildcats”
2020 Fillmore Central Homecoming
September 19, 2020
Dear FC Students, Faculty, Organizations, and Businesses:
Fillmore County recently entered Phase 4 of reopening secondary to the Covid 19 Crisis. This now means that parades are again allowed in our towns. We are pleased to announce that we will be having a homecoming parade on October 2nd, 2020! The parade will begin at 2:45. The parade will return to its original route and depart from the teacher's parking lot heading south on 14th Street then west on G Street. The end of the parade route will again be the west bullpen.
There are a couple of changes to the 2020 Homecoming Festivities. First, the pep rally will be held at the high school at 2:00 and will be only for high school students and staff. This will be led by our cheerleaders and will be closed to the public. So there will NOT be a pep rally downtown after the parade. Part of the reason is Covid related – we want to limit the crowd that is gathered downtown for an extended period of time. Also, the cheerleaders want to plan and lead a rally at the school, which should be a lot of fun!
Second, any Fillmore Central students who are participating in the parade in any manner MUST wear a mask. Any exceptions to this rule must be cleared by the homecoming committee and school administration. Anyone choosing to throw candy or other goodies MUST have sanitizer on the float and all students must sanitize before float departure from the school.
The homecoming theme is “Wrangle the Wildcats!” We are asking each class, organization, business, or individual to show its Panther pride by having a float, truck, vehicle, tractor in the parade – whatever you want to show your school spirit! We are inviting any downtown business to decorate their windows for Homecoming week as well.
The parade lineup will start at 2:00 pm in the west high school parking lot (teachers lot). Please line up your vehicles and floats facing south. This will allow for easy departure from the lot onto the parade route. School will dismiss at 2:10/2:30 for the parade. Because of the change in the pep rally, adults who are in charge of individual floats can choose to let their participants/kids off in the west bullpen like normal OR circle back to the high school via H Street to 14th Street. We would suggest the first floats of the parade (generally middle school and elementary kids) be let off in the bullpen so they can watch the rest of the parade and the high school floats and candidate cars come back to the high school for drop off. Again, this is flexible and can be decided by each individual float leader.
If you would like to participate in this year's parade we are asking that you contact Jennifer Trowbridge (402) 759-1183 or Jaci Nichols (308) 379-5134 so that your entry can be recorded.
Also, the Geneva Fire Department is planning a hamburger feed starting at 5 pm at the high school. The Panther Football team will host Superior at 7:00. Coronation will be after the game.
Thanks! We hope to see you at the parade next Friday!
