The first graders have been learning about insects. They have learned about insect parts and their purpose. They have also learned about what qualifies as an insect, and why spiders are not insects. They learned about the stages of a butterfly. As part of their insect unit, the first graders made insects with Alexis from the Fillmore County Extension office. They gave them names and had fun creating their insect.

Dear Community Members & Parents,
Your input is important to us as we embark on the vital task of planning for the future of Fillmore Central Public School's facilities. As part of our ongoing facility master planning process, we're reaching out to gather feedback on potential solutions to address our current and future needs.
We've already held two community meetings, during which we presented the findings of a comprehensive Facility Audit and Educational Alignment Study. These studies have identified critical needs within our school facilities and proposed potential solutions to meet those needs effectively.
Your perspective is crucial in shaping the decisions that will impact our school community for years to come. Whether you're a parent, a resident, or simply invested in the success of our schools, we invite you to share your thoughts and ideas by completing our brief survey.
Your participation will help ensure that the Fillmore Central School Board considers a diverse range of perspectives as we move forward with our facility planning efforts. Together, we can create a learning environment that meets the needs of our students, staff, and community.
Please take a few moments to complete the survey and make your voice heard. Your feedback is important to us. The survey will remain open until April 24th. Click the link or use the QR code below for the survey. https://forms.gle/ZhDdhtADZFM3KWby5
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in shaping the future of Fillmore Central Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Josh Cumpston
Superintendent
FBLA, FCCLA, and FFA are hosting an all 7-12 kickball tournament on Tuesday, April 16th at 6pm at the Ball Field by the Elementary. All community members are welcome to spectate the event, and Jill's Sweet Shop will be serving snow cones for $4!
This morning, the retired educators had their last get-together of the school year at the high school. While they were there, they got a special treat—listening to the choir practice for the District Music Contest next week!
These coffee meetups happen four times a year, giving retired educators a chance to catch up and see what's new in the district. If you're interested in joining next year, just reach out to Kenna Marchand at kenna.marchand@fillmorecentral.org. It's a great way to stay connected and share memories with fellow retired educators!
The FC National Honor Society and Student Council is planning a community service give back day for the afternoon of Friday, April 19th. If you know of a person who could use some outdoor spring cleaning or other ways our students can serve our community, please reach out to Jodi Meyer or Veronica Waldron.
jodi.e.meyer@fillmorecentral.org or veronica.waldron@fillmorecentral.org
We will take on projects on a first come, first serve basis.

Spanish 3 and 4 students attended the UNL Language Fair in Lincoln on April 4. We watched competitions in various languages, such as short skits in Spanish and musical performances in French. We tasted tea from Japan, and we all came home with our names written in Japanese calligraphy. It was great to learn a little more about cultures and languages around the world!
The York Children’s Theater performed at the elementary this past Tuesday. Students and staff at FCES always enjoy when they visit.
Four Fillmore Central sophomore students had the chance to attend the sophomore pilgrimage at the state capital. They had the chance to meet many different elected officials, attend lunch at the governors mansion, and meet the governor. The kids had a great time!
